I want to add a subwoofer to my 97 coupe what is the best way to tap into my bose system?

you can do that but to get anything the sounds good you will need to add an external amp.

this pic will give you a good idea what I would do. also there would be a custom sealed or even ported enclosure in the hole in the trunk that the sub rests in.

Corvettecrazy, that looks very nice!

I went with a powered subwoofer, Infinity Basslink 200 watt 10" woofer w/ 10" passive radiator. Tapped into speaker lines, ran power to the battery. Was very easy to install. I attached mine to my rear compartment cover. It sticks up, and takes up some room but that was fine with me. It made a huge difference. Here is a link at the Crutchfield site:

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/...c=10&g=51000&I=108BASSLIN&o=m&a=0&cc=01&avf=N

If/when I want to do her right, I'll change out the head unit and speakers and go with components.

Hi, :w

I want to do something to my cars audio, can you put a picture of what yours looks like.

Thank you

what would you like to do with your car's audio?

subs?
new mids?
new door pannel speakers?
components?

All I want is a little more thump, but I do not want to take up all the space on the back. They recommended me some a Bazooka...any one have a recommendation?? :w

you would be supprised how much thump you can get from aftermarket speakers but if you are like me that is no where near enough. I would reccomend giving up one of the storage holes for a small sub and amp combo.

and by bazooka, do you mean their bass tubes??

If interested in a Bazooka powered sub (tube), make sure and measure the width of the large storage compartment and compare the Bazooka's length to see if it will fit inside. My son has a large bazooka in his car, but it is actually much longer and larger than the Infinity I use and not as nice sounding. I agree with Corvettecrazy, that if space is an issue you might be best served by a separate sub/amp combo.

If I have the CD changer in the middle storage, will the vibration of the sub affect the play? How do you guys have it set up?

That kind of depends on what subs you are using. 1 properly powered competition sub could easily destroy the cd changer but you would also be deaf so then the sound system would become useless anyways. I doubt 1 10" or 12" sub at reasonable to slightly high sound levels would make any difference. If you did notice skipping you could always wrap the cd changer in some dynomat sound dampening foam/material.
If I remember correctly the CD changer is small enough to fit in one of the side compartments. I dont think it would take much to relocate it to one of those.

VAmagred01: that is definately a hot box and a good sub to go with it.
