I'm going to take a look at a 91 with mods tomorrow. Here are the specs. Now, this will be my first vette and do not really have a great knowledge about the mods. Any info/opinions would be appreciated.

1991, 6-spd. 37K, 383 hi-perf stroker moter, AFR alum heads, lingerfelter headers, borla exhaust, 3.73 gears, $14,000.

What should I look for?
How does the price sound?
Is this a goo driver, of will the mods be too much for daily driving?

does the car have 37k on it, or does the engine? many times people will put in a new engine and advertise the miles that are on it since the new engine and not the car.

Car

Owner claims it is the car. Previous owner did all the work. Money was not an issue. Wanted to increase performance, so he decided to dump a bunch of cash into it.

What tell tale signs should I look for to verify that the car only has 37k?

Wow!!! With those mods you may be approaching 500HP. 450 HP for sure. For a daily driver you may want a separate bank account for buying new tires every other month, also for the speeding tickets. It's hard enough staying off the FUN peddle with a stock vette let alone one pushing that much power. These mods will defenetly shorten the life span of the engine unless you are extreamely concervative. However, $14K for a vette that may keep up with Vipers and Z06's would be nice...

Wow, that's a good deal considering Doug Rippie charges $12,500 for the 383 package.

You should have it checked out by a Vette' mechanic to make sure everything is where it should be, no leaks. How are the tires? Tires can be expensive to replace? Weather stripping? Interior leather?

Youll have to know what intake and cam it has to say whether it beats all comers. If it still has the TPI on it, it may not.

SR 383s by Lingenfelter put out 440 at the crank with the customary 219 cam.

If i was buying an already-modded engine, I'd ask for specifications on EVERY SINGLE COMPONENT of that engine and drivetrain. FULL details or no buy. Also ask for all maintenance records on the car.
