2010 Torch Red Coupe
Good Morning,
This concerns my 2010 Coupe 1LT with 6,800 miles. I purchased the car Wednesday, parking it in my gararge.
Since then, whenever the car has been started after sitting for some hours, the parking brake will not release after lowering the brake lever. It has been necessary to rock the car slightly forward and/or jiggle the brake lever in order to release the parking brake.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My suggestion is a trip to the dealer so they can worry about it. It's still under warranty.:upthumbs

It's possible that rust has built up inside the rotor hat and is causing interference between the park brake shoes and the rotor. Try driving the vehicle slowly while pulling up on the park brake lever and hold it on for a couple of seconds, do this multiple times and see if the problem goes away. Be careful not to hold the park brake lever on for very long at one time while moving or you will damage the park brake components. Good luck with it. :)

Very possible... could also be a cable binding, though would be strange on a car that new... you never know though, definitely give that a try and take it to the dealer to have them check it out to see whats going on..

Many thanks to those taking the time and trouble of answering. The car was evaluated yesterday by Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton. The rear wheels were taken off and the brakes examined-nothing amiss. The parking brake cable and assembly was removed, checked, re-installed and found to be in proper working order.

So is the problem resolved or is it still a problem?
