Aftermarket Exhaust ??

exhaust systems

This set of threads sounds like a Corsa feel good meeting!!! I invested in the Borla Stinger Quad matched with a Bassani SS x- pipe and the car sounds like it should, a purring tiger!! I grew up in Daytona in the great years of sports car racing with GT-40's 917K's and Ferraris. I've heard them all---A race car sounds like it should- POWERFULL!!!I'm sure Corsa makes a great system and after reading all the hype from the catalogues etc Borla was my choice and it installed perfectly and gives me that race car feel-you know its there but not obnoxious.

Where would one find a ZO6 exhast? I dont know anyone with a Z so I was wandering if there is a place that sells take offs.
There is only about a 10 rwhp between no exhast and a stock one, I dyno tested wine. But I would still like a ZO6 catback.

Could go to a junkyard (altho a horrible idea, wrecked corvettes do end up in those places sometimes...) and see if they may have anything. Or, check w/ your local Chevy dealer, and see if they cant order you a Z06 unit. Also, try the classifieds on most of the Corvete forum's, or even Ebay. Never know what you may find.

Yes...ebay....there's always a few Z06 titanium systems for sale there....

I have a GHL exhaust system w/3.5" tips & a Magnaflow x-pipe. THere isn't any resonance at all. :beer

Anyone out there installed the x-pipe and corsa system themselves at home? If so how hard was it?

Thanx

I installed the Corsa exhaust on my car a couple of days before I left for Italy. However, I did have access to a lift at the auto hobby shop on base. The whole procedure took about 2 hours.

It was not too hard to install at all. But there is a bit of twisting and turning required to get the pipe and the muffler off of the car after you have unattached it. The lift helped with the vertical clearance necessary to remove the old mufflers. Of course if you have no desire to save your stock mufflers you could always cut the pipe to simplify removal if you don't have the vertical clearance to remove them in one piece.

The new exhaust part press together and are tightened with rings around the joints. The hardest part about that whole thing was pressing the pipes together. It also helps if you have a friend to help. Also, lower the rear anti-sway bar to provide more space to remove the tail pipe.

I have the Borla Quad Stingers and have to admit there is interior noise, however, the sound of that exhaust is like no other. Really aggressive, Ferrari or F1 Indy race car-like sound. Incredible. However, at certain RPMs the resonance can get to you. I've learned that by applying the right amount of "go fast" pedal coupled with the right gear - its no problem. I also have the Magnaflow X-pipe which really helps.

Borla Quad Stingers

As I stated above, the Quad Stinger by Borla makes you feel like you are in a "sports car" and I LIKE IT.Would not have it any other way.At about 3500 RPM it is throaty and you know you are coming up to the power curve.I'm not sure what others expect from a cat back system but the Borla met all mine and then some. Thanks:cool
