Aftermarket weatherstip- windshield/pillars

I have located several units for @$100 each....This is considerably less than OEM. I have read some horror stories about these weatherstrips.

Does anyone have anything good to say? any success stories?

I was told to install from the top center down, without glue. Then to put convert top up for the night. The next day remove , glue, and reinstall the weatherstrip.

What do you think!?

I have used some on my 94 with great success. I did just as you descibed but did not see the need to wait overnight. After doing a "dry" run, I started gluing.The keys to success are get your product from a reputable source, being careful to NOT stretch the rubber before you install it and using patience and care while installing. Don't get in too big of a hurry and you should be fine!

I replaced all the weatherstripping save the rear hatch on my 1987. I bought Soff-Seal and some other brand from Corvette Central. I had to remove all of it when the windows would not go up and the targa top would not snug down. The aftermarket stuff was noticeably fatter and stiffer than the original stuff. I ended up going to my local Chevy dealer and ordering up the right stuff. I ate about $200 in shipping and in the backing plates for the aftermarket stuff.

I didn't do anything like let it sit first. The stripping should fit well the way it is. I would highly recommend getting new backing strips, and the torx screws that hold them down. They aren't that expensive, and scraping the old glue/rubber off the originals is a huge pain. My originals were peeling the black off anyway, the new ones looked ever so much better.
