air conditioning engine lag

Hello

I have a 95 LT1. 6spd. When the air is engaged and working, there is a noticable ongoing on and off lag in the car (similar to stepping on and off the accelerator). This happens for both heat and air. Any suggestions?

Other Vettes do not have such a noticeable pump cycle. This actually feels like I am removing my foot off of the accelerator.
