My AIR pump belt has been dissconected for nearly a year and when I was cleaning the engine bay today the rubber hose that connected to the exhaust maniflold just snapped off at the top of the steel pipe that connects down to the manifold. I have always hated the mess of the rubber hoses so I welded a disc into the top of the manifold thus sealing it again.
I then did the same on the other exhaust manifold and removed that pipe also.
My question is this, is this all I have to do or will this effect the running of my engine in a negative way, I see most people have removed the AIR pump totally, but for now until I actually remove the thing, will this be ok or will it cause any vacuum leaks. Will I have to cap anything off???
Engine seems to run fine at the moment. :beer

Thanks, was just concerned about vaccum leaks or the like, but it seems that these hoses have nothing to do with that :beer

Well just an update, engine seems to be running fine with the AIR pump hoses disconnected and I guess I would know by now if this was going to cause any problems with vacuum leaks.

I did a similar thing with my 75 before I removed the AIR pump and installed headers. According to my shop manual, the manifold inlets have a "one way" valve that won't allow exhaust gases back up to the pump, but I capped the manifold side just to be on the safe side. I never had a problem running mine like that.

Thanks Frank,

I thoughtit would be ok, I was looking at a diagram of the system and couldn't see a problem, but I always think I am missing something obvious!! :eyerole . Thanks again :beer
