I was driving along when the AIR tube fell off the CAT, I did not realize it until I got home, does anybody know if you can fix these things or do I need A new CAT....The Cat is still good.
I don't know does Canada do emissions testing? If not you can leave the precats, or is this the car that doesn't have them? And just run a test pipe, and not have to replace any exhaust.
So it feel off the cat, and came off of where it attaches to the little black thing? That thing took me a while to get off when I did my headers, That is crazy that it did that. I know that when my brother had the yoke on his tranny replaced they actually cut him a new air tube to the cat, or at least to my knowledge, they might have done something different, I would imagine you could put one back on there, though. I will have to ask Craig later.
You will need that to pass emissions probably. Also, if you dont replace it the cat will clog. For now I would buy one. If you look in midamerica at the free flow cat, they sell a new tube I believe. If not, you could make yourself one, it isn't to complicated.
The black thingy he is talking about looks almost like a vaccum diaphram located on the passenger side of the engine compartment, next to the exhaust manifolds. I find it very hard to believe that it broke loos from your cat, and then found it's way off this fitting, and out the bottom. It is a bent piece of tubing, much like our fuel lines are, only bigger in diameter. Did you hear anything? Because if it did come off, it would have tore up the underneath side of your car.
My cat has a nipple coming off it in a J fashion. Then the tube attaches to the nipple. I just cut the tubing and the nipple so the fitting would slide over and I tightened it. I guess you could also use a piece of vacuum hose and just clamp it on both sides.
