The red warning light for the factory security system that's located in the center of the dash right at the base of the windshield isn't working on my '95. I'm assuming that it's simply a burned out bulb. In order to get at it, I'll have to remove the small panel that surrounds it that also has the defroster slots in it. Before I go trying to pry it up, does anyone know if that panel has retaining clips and just pops out or is there a more complicated process required to get at it?

Unless your car is very different from mine, that is not a red bulb. It is a Sun load sensor for temperature adjustment in the cabin.

Hey KOPBET,

It may take some time to wipe the egg off my face. It looks like you're absolutely right. Every GM car that I've owned recently, including my GTP daily driver, had two things on the dash, the temperature sensor and the red alarm warning lamp. It looks like I made a bad assumption. Upon closer inspection (it's kind of hard to wedge your head into that space), that's not a clear red lens. It's a dark colored (black?) little dome-shaped thing with a textured surface. On the bright side, my bulb's not burned out!!

Thanks.

:m :beer

If you still have your owners manual, it is on page 3-5 in my '96 book so take a look and see.

Ain't the weather grand in Ok right now?

Yup. There it is. <sigh> Now you're REALLY making me look bad. LOL

Yesterday and today were shirtsleeve weather in OK. I'm loving it, especially since I'm a New England transplant. Where are you?

Not trying to make anyone look bad, just trying to assist. :L

I'm in Tulsa.

It's raining today and the weather guesser are calling for light snow on Monday. The Vette is getting wet and dirty today.
