2004 Black Coupe
I'm a Corvette newbie. Bought my first Corvette in April, a Black 2004 Coupe.

Any other Alaskan Corvette owners out there?

I'm not an Alaskan Corvette owner but I will send you a Mississippi Gulf Coast wave.

Welcome to the :CAC

Welcome aboard aktime, I'm not from Alaska either, but we're glad that you are here. :w

I'm from Boston...quite a distance from Alaska! Tell us about life in Alaska with a Corvette!!

Nice to have you here.

Welcome to the site. I am an ex-Alaskan. I was stationed in Anchorage in 1964-65 and Fairbanks 1965-66. While I was there, I had a 1963 Split Window Coupe; did very well in snow and cold. At that time, I only saw two other corvettes in Alaska. A black 1965 big block in the Juneau GM dealer's showroom and a red 1961 in Fairbanks. Why there was a big block in Juneau was beyound my comprehension as there were only 19 miles of paved road in Juneau in 1966. The SWC was my only vehicle, and I was fortunate to live off base and had garages for the corvette. Still, the weather was tough on the corvette and I traded it in for a 1966 427 convertible when I was transferred to Washington DC in December 1966. I enjoyed Alaska a lot more than DC.

Still new to vette ownership

First...Thank you for the welcomes.

As for life in Alaska with a vette, I must admit I've only had it for 4 months so far. Where we live, near Fairbanks, the weather is fairly dry most years and so the vette has become my daily driver. During the occational days of rain I drive the old reliable sedan and leave the vette in the garage.

I'm unsure what I'll do with the vette this winter. I don't like driving cars that have been left outside overnight during the winter due to the extreme cold. So I suspect I will store the vette outside under a cover from mid-September till the snow clears in April or May.

Otherwise I love driving the car. It has been a dream come true to own. One I thought would never happen and I am thankful for the oppertunity to have the Classice American Sports car. ;-)

:welcome You'll find great people, cars and information here. Congratulations on your new ride and hope that grin you're wearing never subsides.

Save the :w

Welcome aboard :thumb

I'll give ya a big ol Tennessee wave when we pass North Pole. :w The Navigator and I will be coming from Valdez to Fairbanks on Monday, Aug. 16.

Unfortunately, she and I won't be in the Corvette. :eyerole We'll be on a 10-day motor coach (note: not the short bus) tour through the state.

Man, we can't wait to see some of beautiful Alaska!!!!

Not much summer there, but you sure will enjoy that Vette between snows.

Visiting Alaska

Hope you are having a great trip RoadReady. Its been a bit rainy here lately but its been a great summer for cruisin around in the Vette.

Welcome!!!!! Did I read correctly -- you have about seven or eight months of snow?? :ohnoes

Snow

Ummm...yeah. Snow from sometime in October thru March and temps reaching as low as -50 f. It's all good. Great summers with nearly 23hrs of daylight in Fairbanks.

If you are in the neighborhood

If you happen to be up near the Arctic Circle Aug. 27-28, come join us in North Pole Alaska for Cruisin with Santa. Should be a great time of hot cars from antiques to classics to modern hot rods and lots of food.

Check it out at www.cruisnwithsanta.com

Have a great day!!
