I a Z06 owner do not look down on other corvettes! In fact I like certain year vette's better than my own!
If 67Heaven has a 427/435 hp L88 model numbers matching, Bloomington Gold certified, then that vette makes mine a POS compared to the 1967. (Sorry Z06 people, but that is my own feeling).
What I have been finding at the local cruise in is how these people with Corvette coupes are modifying their vettes with Z06 parts and saying, "Well mine is now faster than a Z06" I say to myself then "Why the F*!K didn't you buy a Z06 in the first place and then modify it. The price is almost the same." These people are so arrogant and twice my age and think they have the best Corvette there is. I think they are full of Sh*t on half the things they say anyway. They tell me that the run in the mid-eleven's in the quarter mile and still use the vette as a daily driver. Come on give me a g-dammed break!
Sorry for the rant, but the last cruise in really p'ed me off!
Thanks for listening!
theblackvette,
Thanks for mentioning my car,
but let's be clear on a few things here.
1. My car is worth less, to the average buyer, than most well-restored '67 big blocks.
2. Why is it worth less? Because it is definitely
not a numbers-matching car.....not to mention all the other
major modifications I've done that, while making me feel like a million bucks, actually lower the resale value.
3. Why did I make these changes? To satisfy
me, not a possible future purchaser.
4. Don't I care about resale value?
No! After owning this car for 37 years now, I have no intention of ever selling.
5. What was it originally? A L-71 427.....definitely not a L-88. Although the L-71 (435hp) had a higher factory horsepower rating, the truth is that in comparable tune and if both are running headers, the L-88 (430hp) is far stronger (really about 60 more than the L-71 -- both with headers).
6. Is my car Bloomington Gold Certified? Nope. Never will be either....not because I don't value the award, but because the car is way too far from stock to ever qualify for that award or for N.C.R.S. Flight awards.
7. Am I laying awake at night worrying about the numbers?
