Alum. intake manifold repair

The rear water alum. manifold passages (the ones that are blocked across the intake manifold, but exposed at the head water ports) have corroded to the extent I don't think I will get a good sealing surface upon re-installation. Since there is no passage for water to flow thru, it would appear that some type of filling of the corroded area would be possible. It has been suggested to heli-arc the space in and re-mill the surface smooth, or use an epoxy filler and file smooth. The engine has sat for 25 years.

This is an original tri-power manifold, so I would like to use it. Anybody have experience with this problem and their suggested solutions?
