Looking at the motor yesterday and noticed that the alternator and various other aluminum parts are now dull in appearnace. What can I do to bring back the lustre?

Dremel tool with polishing pad and Brasso (if you spent any time in the military, you will be familiar with this product. If not, trust this old sailor.)

Was out of town. The answer is no I do not have pictures; you;ll just have to "trust" this old sailor.

Another good product is Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish. . . I always refer to this thread posted by CAC member B17Crew which details his work on the engine bay (with some awesome photos) of his Polo Green C4:
