a 454 "built" my way....strong...high HP. Question...is this engine with it's high displacement and high rotating weight, compared to the small block, capable of turning high rpm's 6000-6500 and lasting any reasonable length of time on the street with no strip racing? I like big blocks and full throttle in safe places but have never owned one. My ZO6 appears to be bullet proof so far. Do the big blocks hold up to "pounding"? Thanks!!

Frog,

I was always told that the bigger the motor, the less turning it should do. Maybe that's old school thinking on my part.

But with a 454, you won't need to go 6,000 rpm!

Yes, Edmond, I had that idea planted in my head from somewhere besides it just seems that the more rotating mass, the better the chances of pieces flying apart. I'm more used to smaller displacement motors with high power but have never owned a big block.

Just wanted to hear from those with first hand experience. Thanks, Edmond!

Frog,

Don't forget that the C4 suspension and balance was engineered with the SB in mind. I would imagine that a BB would throw that way off. Your handling would be pretty messed up. :(

buy a used L98 vette and put this puppy in :D

look at the bottom all the way right. at 10.5:1 compression running on 94 octane and produces BB 625+HP! :eek add a mini ram and 58 mm TB and go romp some kills up! there are 2 guys that are running this combo that i know of. 1 in a C4 running 10.6's so far. motor been in since winter and a third gen FBody running 10.8 so far. motor been in since october. both are N/A!

i want to do one of these with an F3 blower and make close to 1000hp :D

BTW this is a small block and will fit right in :upthumbs
