on the rear of my instrument cluster is what looks like a condenser with a short black wire and a thin flat copper strip attatched to the end. The PO left a tag on it with to Amp. guage written on it. does this connect to the guage and if so which side? Thanks to anyone who can help.

The copper "flag" on that wire goes in either cavity in the harness connector that plugs onto the back of the battery gauge; doesn't really matter which side. It's a radio noise suppression capacitor, intended primarily for AM.

Thanks for the help, I had an idea it went to the gauge but was not sure why. Thanks again
