Help! Analog Temp Gauge problem

T

On my 1994, the analog temp gauge stays way past the last mark. Even with no power applied. The digital temp display works fine. Any idea on to trouble shoot this or just plan on pulling the dash apart and replacing the gauge. Best place to get a replacement gauge?

Thanks

Check the gauge sensor in head first ; more likely that is faulty

The gauge sensor will cause this even when no power is applied? I thought with no power the analog gauge would drop to the zero range.

Just looked at my 95 analog gauge & it is indicating the temp of the engine when I shut it down. All other gauges do the same except the electrical.
