OK as you may or may not know (and are sick of reading about) I have been argueing with myself over what to do with the engine in the Vette.
Beef up the present non-original motor, look for a used LS1 or LT1, get a crate motor or just buy a block and build a motor myself (OK with lots of help from some friends). If I decide to build one I'll get the present motor in better running order so I can drive it while I'm "laboring" at the engine stand.
I narrowed my options to beefing up the present motor or building from a new block. Then as I was discussing my lack of decision making capabilities with a buddy he mentions that he has a gentleman that he gets 1 or 2 performance engines from every week that may be able to help me.
Well, to make a loooong story shorter, seems there is a 406 ci 400Hp engine available for $2500. Seeing that kind of price made me very suspicious but the engine was built and then cancelled and since a deposit was already paid and friends are involved and.....you get the idea. Looks like a 406 is in the future for my 81!
