another bose question

I was told by a radio shop that a radio from a 1990 - 91 and a radio from a Camaro 94-96 will work and fit with an adapter plug. Anyone ever try this...thanks...Jim 1985 C4 thanks for your responses

Having had a 95 Camaro Z28 and a 91 Vette, I can tell you that you cannot swap. The Vette radio uses an external tuner located under the glove box.There is also a large locating pin directly behind the radio in the Vette that does not exist in the Camaro.

If you have the Bose system, the Bose stereo from the early 90s Camaro is pretty much plug-and-play, it is 1.5 din and will fit perfectly into your 85. I think Mid America is selling the Camaro cd players in their catalog now, but there are lots of them on ebay as well. If you don't have the Bose system, GM made 1.5 din Delco cd players for various models in the late 80s/early 90s, and they are very stock-looking for the early c4. This must be a popular thing to do, because I see c4s on Ebay all the time which have a Delco or delco-bose cd player retrofitted to their car.

I dumped the bose in my 87. My family got me an Alpine with MP3 player and I ditched the amps and all and wired it right to the speakers (you have to do some rewiring in the radio plug and at the speakers). It took an afternoon but the bose speakers sound ok. even though they are wierd low resistance speakers they haven't hosed the Alpines built in amps in over a year. And I didn't spend a fortune.
