Okay ... need some help here with brakes. I plan on getting rid of the brake shields i have on all the wheels. They work great but I here they not good on rotors (overheating). I haven't had a problem with them but I don't drive the car that often nor do I drive it hard. I'm putting "Rotex Gold Kevlar" on a crossfire and wondering if the same should go for the vette. I really don't want the slotted rotors, I'm really concerned with brake dust though ... I really hate brake dust and want to get rid of my wheel rags so, I'm on a mission here. Thanks all!

Are those the brand of pads?

shields

my 86 z51 did NOT have em on the front when it left the factory...rear DOES have shields, but likely the rear shields are required part of the more sophisticated ''emergency brake'' system (has ANYONE ever used their emer brk ?) that was used on early c4's.

I've never heard of those pads before so I can't comment.

I know Hawk has a set of pads that they advertise to be low dust.

It was in '88 that the 275/40/17's were first offered I believe. Can't remember if that was also the same year they started have an HD system.
