Well, being a new vette owner,(98 artic white, white top, tan interior) I purchased an additional fob from corvette central. The owner couuld not locate the second fob that camer with the car........Got the new fob, replaced the battery just in case the one in the new fob was bad, and tried the training process in the owners manual.........no luck. When I go to the options and go to the blank indication, right after the english language screen, I hold the #4 options button, sometimes for over 2 mins hoping for luck, but do not get the fob training message. The C5 specialists suggested disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a minute and try the process again. Same results, I don't get the fob training message. The original fob ( holding down the buttons) gets an acknowledgement from the vehicle, and no problems. I tried a new fob battery for the new fob and even exchanged the battery in the old (original) fob in the new unit, still no luck. I would appreciate suggestions at this point and will contact corvette central re: any process they my suggest

thanks

PS, if this is the only problem I experience with the car, it is still the closest thing to..........well, you know...........

Make sure you have the correct remote. Check the GM # on the back to see if it matches with the original remote. I don't know if it affects the programming but make sure the passive switch is in the off position.
Reprogram the original remote thru the DIC and then try programming the new remote when the DIC prompts you to learn the next remote.
Make sure the battery and the contacts in the remote are nice and snug.

on the front cover of the remote below the buttons.
it's a sliding switch. it says passive under the switch.
the part # on the back of the remote should be GM 10253839.
