Another Horn Problem!

Hi everyone!

I have a horn problem that I can't figure out (even with previous posts). I have a 1990 Vette.

It worked until last year! Now it only works once in a great while. My brother put a keyless entry in it and when he was putting the dash panel back in, the horn worked, but then it stopped again.

The relay doesn't click, but the horn works when the alarm goes off. I took the caps off (the '90 has two caps on either side of the air bag) and tried making the horn work with a jumper - no relay click - nothing!

Does anyone have any ideas? How about the wire colors? I have the underside of the dash apart and I don't see anything out of order. Are the horn wires pink? Is the relay to the right of the steering wheel?

I am going nuts not knowing what is wrong with this thing!

I just finished repairing the horns on a 90. There is a spring loaded contact under the airbag that has a plastic housing. The housing is notorious for breaking. I had to fabricate a new plastic clip to hold it, I drilled and tapped two small holes in the steering wheel to hold it. I know it will never pop out again.

Before you take the airbag off, make sure you follow the steps in Haynes or a Corvette shop manual to disarm the airbag. Wouldn't want that to go off with your face right there...:nono

Here is a picture of the wire and new clip that I installed. Don't know if this will solve your problem, but I would bet on it.
