Polo Green LT4
Polo Green/Black, 45k miles, completely stock. I may post pics later if I'm feeling indulgent, but we all know how great it looks. I also got caught in some rain on the way home, so it will need a bath first.

It took two long weeks of waiting for the seller's bank to finally post the loan payoff and on top of that, his weekend trip out of town. From now on the policy is "no title = no sale", but just this once is OK. It's not a Honda Civic or run of the mill pickup truck, it MY Corvette we're talking about.

This is my first Vette, and wow, what a machine. I still love my daily driver Integra, but I must say it felt a little dainty on the way to work this morning.

Welcome!

jrp,

Congrats on your LT4, you’ll soon realize that the Polo Green is one heck of a hard color to keep clean. It’s as bad as black.

On the flip side, apply the wax of your choice and just step back – smile, and enjoy, it will sparkle like nothing else. I’ve found that keeping the inner wheel wells dressed with Armor All helps accentuate the green, if the wheel wells take on that black/grey look, it detracts from the car.

I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but I think that the green/black combo you have was a low production number.

Enjoy your LT4!

"you’ll soon realize..."

B17Crew - Sooner than you thought, with the rain last night! And the PO did keep it really clean for me while we waited for the banks to do their thing. My Integra is also dark green, so this is about what I was expecting - I just won't give up on the Corvette as I did on the Acura. Its paint looks like hell from all the gravel they use in winters here.

"inner wheel wells dressed with Armor All"

Excellent tip. Keep 'em coming!

Vette96CE,

Interested in trading rims? I've got a nice set of sawblades that would look stunning on your CE. ;)

jrp,

I do have one more tip/suggestion; Get a California Duster, and a bottle of Meguiars Quick Detailer Mist & Wipe.

Lightly go over your cars surface and then spray the surface of your paint with the Quick Detailer and wipe clean. Makes short work of keeping up with your paint after that unexpected rainstorm.

Vette96CE is right, too much time cleaning will leave you with no time to have fun with that LT4!

I don't know what sawblade rims look ,but I really love my silver collector edition rims. Thanks for asking though
:v :pat

I've heard the stock rims (like in B17Crew's picture) referred to as sawblades. That's what I was meaning, and the trade offer was a bit of a joke. I much prefer the 5-spokes and plan on getting a set for the new tires I need.

A couple CE's advertised at a local Vette lot are what got me started looking for a '96 instead of a C3. The Sebring silver is very classy, and I was wishing I hadn't set a budget. I like Polo Green better now, or that's what I'll tell myself :L .

I just ordered a set of ZR-1 wheels for mine. Clear powder coat over silver powder coat. I have chrome sawblades on there now, but they're beginning to peel. They're probably not in good enough condition for an exchange and I like the spokes better. Plus, the chrome is just a bit flashy with black, at least for my taste.

Gman, do you mind providing details on your new wheels? What, where & how much... I've read a bunch of posts and found several vendors by searching here, and I've got to say it was a bit overwhelming. OEM are a bit too pricey, but with the replicas it's hard to know where they're coming from. Weight isn't much of an issue for me - I just want the same durability. Some of the knockoffs had cheesy looking logos, too.

Silver ZR-1/CE style are just perfect - stylish without flash and with a peek at the underpinnings.

jrp, I did order replica ZR-1 wheels but I don't have the vendor here at work. I'll get you the info later this evening. I ordered 17x8.5's for the front and 17x9.5's for the rear. They also have them in 17x11's. The total to my front door was $930.00. I searched quite a bit before I came across them. They carry a huge line. I will let you know about the service, quality, etc. when I receive them. The center caps looked good. Although they had the same wheel in chrome and polished, the powder coated seemed like they would be the easiest to take care of.

jrp, I found it here at work. These are the wheels I ordered. If you click on their home page then click on the chevy replica wheels icon, you can check them all out. It states that the center cap is ( not shown ) but that is the right one ( see 9.5 size ) I hope this pans out because the price seems fair to me. Let me know what you think after you view their site.

Thanks much, Gman. That bookmark will be handy when I start shopping. The price is right, too, so I hope they work out for you. Keep me posted.

Jamison

Jamison, just to keep you posted, I called them today to inquire about the status of my order. I talked to a guy named Mark and he was very helpful. My wheels were shipped yesterday, the day after I ordered them. I should receive them next Wednesday. He also told me that they double box each wheel and heavily pad them. He also encouraged me to send photos of my car after installing the wheels as they are putting up a customer page on their website. If you're looking for tires as well as wheels, you should talk to them. They have some great tire/wheel packages and are shipped mounted and balanced. If I needed tires, I probably would have gone with 11's in the rear.

My wheels arrived last Thursday and I couldn't be happier. Beautiful machine work and finishing!
