With the carb. on the bench, & by hand,''FLOORING" the linkage, should the
secondaries open up? They will if i hold down the tail of the fast idle linkage.
But. when the carb is back in the car, and pumping the gas pedal, should'nt
the secondaries get a shot of gas too when the engine is cold?
Or is this something the choke has to do to hold down the linkage?:confused
I just gotta know.
Thank you! Gary.

the q-jet is not a double pumper carb, so to your question of should the secondaries get a shot of fuel-no. the fuel to the secondaries is drawn through the rear jets-about the linkage, the linkage to the secondaries(choke side) is designed to keep the secondaries closed until the engine is warmed up.

Thank's Danny, i just thought of another one,

What opens up the top butterfly's of the secondaries?
I have to know how this work of art, work's

Gary, the top set of butterflys are refered to as the AIR DAM, They are vacume operated, and WONT open unless the engine is under a load!!! They are ajustable but one must be careful when doing so!! If they are ajusted to loose the engine will BOG big time!! if to tight they wont open at all. When ajusted correctly you will HEAR them open, BUT they should open smooth enough so you hardly feel the surge of power!!!:D
