Well,Last week I went to start the 95' and nothing. I thought it was a defective Clutch Pedal Switch (used to be called neutral safety switch) anyway,I tried it about an hour later and it started right up...strange..Never did it since...been over a week now.Could have been a dirty chip on the key. I did put WD-40 in it a while back. Then saturday ,as I was washing her, I took the key out of the ignition and laid it on the console.I closed both doors and my God both doors locked.Good thing I heard somewhere you rock the car and it will open. well, after many rocks it finally opened. I now have Hide a Keys on both the 95' & 96' so I can always be able to unlock the doors.I wonder why they locked when the keys were right on the console????? Never had that problem before.

Anybody have similar problems.?

I had something like that happen to me also. I was installing a new battery in my '93. I had laid the key on the console when I put in the new battery. Just as I connected the last post on the battery, the doors locked. I did have the second key handy to get into the car, but was surprised when the doors locked.

I've had this happen too but when I tried to start it the alarm went off! I think the answer is the mercury switch in the key fob. If the PKE doesn't sense it moving, it will let the doors lock just as if you were out of range. You were lucky, mine wouldn't open by rocking the car but, when I got a wire around the door and nudged the fob - click! it opened. Only took once to learn to keep better track of my keys. I'm a bit nervous about the hide a key. A good thief is pretty smart about figuring out where it's hidden!

Mercury switch in the FOB. I learned something today.Never knew it had a Mercury switch. Why does it ???

Thanx

It has something inside that communicates. If you sit still inside the car you hear a pulse of some sort every once in a while. I believe this happens with movement of the PKE remote.
