Has anyone else had the antenna plastic where the top chrome nut mounts strip? Well add me to the list..... I had the antenna out for the rear rebuild/restoration, Bubba had used some HVAC duct strapping to hold the bottom of the antenna up and the gnd plate was MIA along with the gnd strap.. No wonder I had no stations on my FM radio... (Side note.. Had a good lesson on Antenna theory and how gnd planes affect antenna strength).. Well long short of it with the gnd plate installed the top threads on the antenna were not enough to hold the top nut on. My solution was to wrap one round of electrical tape around the threads. I don't know if this is Bubba or is there any better way to complete this repair? I can't see buying a new antenna at this pt in time just b/c the securing nut threads are a little bogger up... You thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.... Dave..
