Any Aftermarket Alarm Install Tips?

I'm about to install my new Viper 350HV alarm and was wondering if there were anything I should be on the lookout for. It's an 81 with the factory alarm removed. The only thing that caught my attention in the manual was something about when the dome light has a delay on it.

Anyway, any thoughts about this/experiences would be great!

Jeremy, i have a Viper alarm in mine (i think!).. CRS ya know.. When mine was installed, the kid didnt include the door lock/unlock in, as that would have conflicted with the factory switch. Though mine has the factory alarm still in it.. Kind of a nice combo, once one goes off the other get's triggered, and they NEVER shut off. One just repeatedly set's off the other and vica versa. Also, i need to follow the procedure when locking/unlocking the car. If you want i can check out the system tonight, and let you know..

Yeah, I'm doing mine myself as the last time I had an alarm installed in my Monte, I ended up redoing the whole thing myself anyhow.

That stinks that your alarm keeps going off...there must be a correct way to set it up so that it doesn't do that. Like I said, mine doesn't have the factory alarm anymore...which should be good. Good luck with yours though.

What i meant to say was: When it goes off, ie. get's triggered by something/somebody, not by itself. The alarm has been in place 6 years and has protected my baby well.. I lost 2 set's of T-Tops before that, and had little problem with it.. Though the cabling is whacky, ie. lots of splicing into other cabling.. Did you get the movement sensor with the alarm ? Watch out for waving something over the car (i have glass tops), it'll set it off.

OH, I see...well that is a good thing then!

No I didn't get the movement sensor. I guess I could always add it...I have mirror T-Tops which might cause the same thing.

I think I'm going to go install it now.
