Where should I start looking for exhaust systems? If I cannot get a shop to custom bend me pipes, I am looking at a rear Y pipe and some exhaust, or a nice cat back system.

Thanks,
Craig

Try Corsa ....you will love it!

Check with the exhaust shops. I had a complete 2 1/2" dual system with a H-pipe and mufflers installed for less then most cat-backs systems run.

But, the shop owner is a friend and we fudged on the catalytics (no emissions testing where I live).

Maybe someone in this thread can help me identify mine. The tips are a back-to-back "D" shape, and the actual mufflers are black. The only reference that I've seen is on the Callaway sites. Is this a Callaway muffler, or a knock-off, or a certain brand?

I put on a stainless steel magnaflow cat back on my 86 convertible. Sounds great but not too loud, looks even better. Easy installation, took about 1 hour by myself in the garage on car ramps. I found this exhaust from www.performancepeddler.com (1-800-470-1443). You need to call them and get a price quote, they can't advertise their actual prices on the internet, they are limited by the manufactor. Free shipping and had it to my house in three days from calling them. Tell them you're a member of this forum and you want the rock bottom price. Saved me almost $100 anywhere else I could get it. Gene.

If you want perfomance peddlers lowest price you need to call them on the phone (1-800-470-1443). I'm sure they will trim some more off the price they advertise on the web. Very good people to deal with, they will give you they're lowest price for what you want, if they have it in stock for immediate delivery, free shipping, had mine in two days!

Which exhaust system did you buy, and how does it sound?

Just to chime in...

That is where I got my Magnaflow sysyem. Advertised on site @ $466.60...paid $330.00 shipped after I called them.

You might also check with Bob at www.advancedautocc.com He is the one who got me my Magnaflow system.

Do you know what system you bought, part number or anything?

How was the fit with the stock hanger location? What do you have in front of the cat back system?

I used the hangers that came w/ the Magnaflows. They are L-shaped and I bent them a little in order to get the mufflers to suck up under the car like I wanted.

I (now) have longtube headers w/ no cats going into the stock resonator & out to the Magnaflow system. Sounds great...I don't plan on changing anything - at least for now. ;)

This sound clip is before the addition of the headers:

Sounds far more healthy now! :D

Sounds great but it is hard to tell just how loud it is since I don't know how much to turn up the speakers. I like the tone. I am going to have to replace my exhaust system soon and I have been considering the magnaflow. I don't want it to be much if any louder in the interior. Do you get any resonating?

Have my stock system in front of the CAT back system (Stainless steel magnaflow, 1986 convertible). The old system came off with two bolts holding the Y pipe to the converter, one hanger bolt at about the Y connection. Had to remove the hangers in the back, one bolt each. New system went right in place and bolted up. The only thing I did was to replace the bolts going into the converter with stainless steel since after 19 years they were starting to bind (don't figure). Only took about an hour wit h car ramps under the rear wheels in the garage and the old lady gone for the day. Remember the stock bolts are all metric.

What is my best bet on replacing the main converter? I will have TPIS long tube headers, and Y pipe, and then have to bridge the gap between the front Y pipe and the rear Y pipe. I imagine I can hang them and then measure for distance, but the attaching is what I am worried about. Craig
