Banging mine on the coffee table.

Man thats allot of motor,I have a 425/427 in my 66 and think its too much motor to get to the ground, then I thought these guys were crazy with the 502,s .

This should really just be untameable in a midyear.

Best of luck with the project.

I thought that crate looked familiar. Hope to give mine it's first test an a few weeks.

you should stamp the 572 engine with your car's VIN number and see how many people you can convience after the car is done that the car is still an original numbers matching motor! Just tell them that the '63 BB was a very rare option.
;LOL

Charles, I will definitely be interested in hearing how things went, once you get it up and running.

That will be one cool ride you'll have there, with those underpinning's. It's a great combo you have there, and looking at your chassis, reminds me of an old expression that we often hear about there " always being a meaner dog out there somewhere"

P.S. Look's like we could start our own 572 club.:D

As long as there is a go pedal we have control over, it's never too big.;LOL

BTW, I will be painting each of the pedal pads their proper colour. Green for the one on the right, and Red for the one next to it. That way I can figure it all out, and it should keep me out of trouble.

My question is... how do you balance the rear end of that car? With that big ole' 572 in the front and that empty fuel tank in the rear;LOL.

to save you having to look down under the dash each time to check which color pedal you are using, how about installing a pressure pad on the pedals with a HUD unit. That way as soon as your foot presses on a pedal the HUD will show you what color you are using :D

All the mid-year big block's were slightly nose heavy, and this one will be no different. However during the build I do plan on relocating some of the parts to the rear, including but not limited to the large spiral cell battery, so it will certainly help out. Other then that it will be like a wart, something that we learn to live with.

Barry, I have it all figured out and I won't need any of those complicated electronic thing's. I plan on having some leather straps installed on the pedals just like the bikers, so both feet will always be held in their correct place.

Shouldn't the 572 weigh in around the same as a 427/454?? I thought they were the same block but the 572 being farther over?

I haven't checked the specs, but my first guess is that it might just be a little lighter then the old engines, because of the way it is being set-up. As for the bare block, although it is a tall block, I think it should weigh in at very close to a regular block. The heads ( aluminium ) will be lighter, along with the headers from Sanderson's that are also considerable lighter then the stock cast iron manifolds. I also have a racing radiator in aluminium from Tom Dewitt's, and both the AC condenser, and oil cooler are being relocated ( check my web-site ) in the cowl area, that will bring them back towards the center of gravity.

With these changes, I would need to have each wheel on a scale to confirm it, but I will probable end up with less weight on the front end, then a normal ( if we can call them that ) 60's era big block
