Get your minds out of the gutter!!!!! I am talking about doors. My passenger door looks like it had one too many Goldslager shots. It is starting to sag. I noticed it when I took the heater core out. Is there an easy way to raise the back of the door back to its orginal position?

Support the rear of the door first on something soft If it's only sagging in the rear. loosen the two screws on each hinge that go into the body. and then retighten the hinge screws to just snug enough so you can adjust the door and have it stay where you adjust it.

Raise the rear of the door and gently shut the door to check your height adjustment. Repeat until it's where you want it.

Torque screws to 26 lb ft, not 26 lb inch like the mistake in the manul sez, or you door will fall off :crazy

The manual also sez to take the rear of the front fender off, but it looks like there is room for a box wrench without pulling the fender.

If you use the above method...use a floor jack with a hockey puck or something soft on it to raise and lower the door. Most likely the hinge pins may be worn...you may want to take a look at them and replace if need be.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I got a new project.

Thanks to you for ask, looks like my driver door needs some work! ;)

use alignment shims between the hinge and the car:beer

I had this same problem and I ended up having to replace the hinges on the driver door. It's not real hard.
If you have to order new hinges, it's good to know that they come assembled. I made the mistake of ordering new hinge pins too.

cant you just buy the pins and bushings?, this is my first vette , but i have only ever had to change the pins and bushings.
in the manual it says to take off the inside door panel to get to the access door for the top hinge adjustment. is this accurate?? mike

The way the hinges are mounted, that would move the front of the door out from the car, but not raise the rear of the door.

No shims are need to raise the rear of the door. Just loosen the hinge to door screws, adjust the door and retighten.

simple

i did mine recently. just close the door, remove the front little side panel. then loosen the lower door hinge bolts, move the hinge as far as it will go toward the door and tighten the bolts. re assy the rest and yor good to go. r/s frank

Got it done. That was a pretty easy one. Now I got to get the Starter/Solenoid fixed. Skip, too bad I did not see your post until after I did it. That would have been alot easier. I will keep that in mind if I have to do it again.
