I am seriously considering purchasing #79 from Rogers Corvettes BEFORE I return to Iraq (got the fever really, really bad).

Can someone really give it a super going over and evaluation/recommendation?
Your evaluation will determine if I drive to Rogers from NC while visiting granddaughter on leave in the states.

The price looks a bit higher than regular ads so I'm wondering if #79 is really that good.

Thanks in advance.

They bought the car on ebay for 10k cheaper. they will make a killing on the car. FYI

...in three weeks, it will be headed to Bloomington Gold for the auction - As Callaway4Fun stated, car was simply buffed up to a gloss and $10k tacked on the sticker

IMHO that car is in pretty rough shape cosmetically. Especially for 40k.

I saw this car in January. It just isn't very "sharp". When you get up close the finish shows a few flaws. Mechanically, I have no idea of the condition.

Jeff

Thanks for the info

Thanks to all who gave evals and recommendations. Looks like my search continues.

...what Surf said - and -

I saw this car in person and here are my observations from the way the car was presented @ the end of June:

1. above front nostril(s) the paint / f.glass is cracked.
2. leading edge of door on drivers side has a poorly filled chip - maybe from dropping the hood shut while door was open?
3. loose plastic trim @ point where drivers seat belt upper mount is located.
4. upper door trim is warped/loose/buckled
5. car has a musty odor.
6. light scratches on most panels from brushing past, etc.?
7. had Callaway emblem at the gas lid but not on nose - was there more damage than what is still evident?? Emblem that is on the (nose) car is a late C4 emblem and not correct either...

Condition #5 is especially relevant here, as the car was run on e-bay w/ pics of a rusted dash screw(s) - this may be a sign of improper storage...

Car bid to $21k and stalled on the money - obviously the seller wanted more - and paid more for the car a few mos. ago.

If someone is seriously looking for a decent driver, this may be it :cool

I hope this helps someone who might be in the market

Thanks for the info

Really have the "fever" but not "delusional" (yet)! Thanks for the information. It seems a bit high price (for me anyway). I'm definately looking for a driver but one that is in much better condition.

The "plan" after purchase is to send the car to OL for a real mechanical going over and update.

I didn't see anything while on leave in the US so it looks like it will be after my return from Iraq - oh well...

At least when I return I will have a bigger budget stashed away!!!

Thanks again to all who responded.
