The cat is a good muffler. My Corvette is louder now with new mufflers and no cat then it was before with cat and rusted out mufflers.

I, for one would run without mufflers. Well if you want to call what I have mufflers. I have something called a ZR-1 muffler but I bet ZR-1's have a lot better muffler then this. You could drop a ping pong ball through it and it would not touch either side. Then a square flange chrome extension on the end. They were on the car when I bought it and I thought it sounded like a Corvette ought to sound. :)

My '86 has something about as good (or as bad) as the ones on the '85. It has Monza mufflers. Pretty much the same thing only it has round extensions instead of square. Neither of them would ever be accused of being a "muffler" though. But they both at least have the CAT's in place! :) Where I live no one seems to care about how loud anything is. I have driven the '85 all over the country and never raised an eyebrow that I know of. But I would have to classify it as loud. My '55 Chevy with glass paks is probably not quite as loud as the Vettes. :)

A neighbor asked my wife if I was in my 2nd childhood. She said, "No, he's still in his first!!
