I bought a power/thermo chip with a 160 deg thermostat, but am a little apprehensive about putting it on since it changes the tuning and wants you to use premium gas only according to the instructions. A man I know who races vettes suggested it to keep my engine cooler, not necessarily to increase performance. It seems you need the chip to run a 160 thermostat, is this right?
Anything I should know about the chip, adverse effects or such, or a waste of $139.00? Cant find any info on the search for chip...
Thanks...

It gets a tad more performance by bumping your timing up more advanced...this means it will tend to "ping" if you run cheap gas.

You won't hurt anything...it will run cooler, and you will get less mpg out of it with this chip. It will have a little more "KICK" when it shifts gears, especially when cold. On the track, it might pick up a tenth or two...so, not a big change...but cooler under hood temps make most people feel better.

your right

yes, It seems your exactly right on both accounts, now that its installed, it seems to run cooler and squaked a little in 2nd gear shift change, which it never did before. I still have regular gas in it, so I guess Ill have to run premium as directed in the instructions...Thanks for reply!
