I just used it on the wifey's grocery getter which has carnuba on it and it looked good and was good to the touch afterwards. Polymer over wax...good or bad...I don't know!! Just looks good!

My other cars are Zainoed and wondered how the Meguire's would do on Zaino. Why would I wonder this...Z6 is outragously expensive in my opinion. The only thing expensive about Zaino IMO.

Has anyone else put the Mac spray on Zaino?

I have used the quick detail stuff over EVERYTHING, Never had ANY problems with any of it!!!! I have put wax over polymer- overwax, May-be this is wrong,But I have not had any trouble at all!!!!:w

You guys are light years ahead of me! I don't have a clue what I've put Meguiers over but that aside, the result is excellent. I had an abraision about 9" long under the R.F. air intake. Everyone at the show thought it would end up in the body shop. ScratchX and a S.L. of elbow grease solved the problem.

Hmmmm, do you think Meguier's follwos these threads and offers $$$ for these kinds of testimonies? :upthumbs

I use nothing but Meguiar's products on my vehicles. I recently picked up their metal polish to give that a try; I hadn't seen that product before and it'd be cool if I could keep it "in the family" so to speak. :cool

Have y'all noticed their products all seem to have a scent associated with them now? The car wash soap smells like bubblegum and the metal polish smells like coconut or something. :L

Probably due to the fact more women are getting involved in the hobby. :v

Yes, tried it then threw the Mac in the trash. Streaked and looked terrible. I'll stick with the Zaino.

I'm tending to agree. I'll finish it up on the grocery gitter. May even try NXT on the grocery gitter. Definitely not on the ZO6 I would bet.

i been using mcguires on my C-5 for 6 years and to me i can see the cars crossing the intersection in the reflection of my hood. I guess i've been missing something bout the z wax. Please feel free to re-educate me. Thanks Terry :duh :v

After a bad experience with Zaino 3 years ago, a Meguiars R&D guy pulled a rabbit out of his hat to save the day. I'm a Meguiars guy for life now.

To each his own :).

The night before leaving to have my black 82 NCRS Flight Judged in Canada, I washed my car and I put the Zaino on (for the first time). Maybe the lighting was bad, for the next morning my wonderful original paint was full of large spots and made the car look like the paint was wearing thin. I must have Zaino'ed over the spots, but it was time to leave for Canada. I didn't see these spots in the garage the night before. I tried getting the Zaino off, but it wasn't happening - I had to hit the road.
I blame myself, but Zaino will not come off with Dawn liquid if you want to start over, therefore I had no time to make a correction. The Meguiar's R&D guy spent 2 hours the evening before the NCRS meet stripping the Zaino and starting over with Meguiars - no charge! He heard about how bad my black car looked (he was there for a Meguiars demo the next day) and found my hotel room number and called me, 15 minutes after I checked in (my fellow NCRS members put the word out). He worked into the evening on the car and some the next morning, therefore, ever since, I use ONLY Meguiars. Draw your own conclusions or speculations (my fault, Zaino or both), I don't care to hear opinions nor will I respond, but when someone makes that kind of effort, I stick with that product. If I knew how to get the Zaino off, It would not have been such a big production.

The same thing happened to me... :(

normally i get my way from a body shop in town and it is the cats meow. But i use it VARY sparingly about 3 times a year and b4 shows. the rest of the time i am a mac man myself. The Z stuff does absolutly nothing for me. To me maguires has cornored the market. They have done more R+d than anyone else, so i choose the experts.

Would you feed ur children bad food, then why give ur vette bad wax!!!

p.s.- i say that cause my corvette is my kid LOL

Color Matters!

Everything depends on the color of your car and the humidity levels and temperature.

But the major factor is the color. Zaino's is excellent on my torch red vette, but on my silver Volvo it's ok.

Don't lose sleep over it all it takes is trial and error.

I would say you shouldn't have any problems with using Meguiar's Quik Detailer over Zaino. If you like it, it shouldn't harm anything. It won't remove the Zaino or anything like that. I don't like Quik Detailer very much, and use it mainly on door jambs and such. However, it's a perfectly safe product to use, it's just not my fave.

On the other hand, when I put Meguiar's Final Detail (not to be confused with #34 Final Inspection) over Z5 on my metallic red Aurora, it brought back all the gloss and color that the Zaino was missing. It looked really amazing.

I don't think you'd want to use Quik Detailer while layering Zaino like you use Z6 for, but for touch-ups and post-wash wipedowns and such like that, use anything that gives you the results you like. There's no carnauba in Quik Detailer, and any gloss it leaves behind will easily wash off when you want to reapply Zaino. :)

Was this mysterious Meguiar's rep perhaps Mike Phillips? It just sounds like the kind of thing he'd do. :upthumbs

I swear by Meguire's products. I really like their Gold Class wax and Qwik Detailer. I was not crazy about NXT. It gave my navy blue metallic corvette a strange hue. The color looks off now especially in direct sunlight. It is hard to explain. It is almost as if the paint is a lighter in color now. I will clay it this winter and put on three coats of Gold Class. Other colors may look fine with NXT and it has a nice shine to it but I won't use it on my blue car again.

Trashed the Meguire's Detailing Spray!

My vette is also Torch Red and for some reason it doesn't mix well with the detailing spray.

It might work for your vette, so use it up, but l like Zaino's for now.

Believe me Zaino's is not the cure all.

I've done it several times too. No problems at all.

First post in this section. I've been detailing my own cars for probably 25 years. When I was young, a good friend of mine handled detailing and new car prep for Hollywood Mercedes-Benz, so I was shown how to do it right. I think Meguiar's makes an excellent product. I've used Zaino too, and results were good, but it didn't look significantly different to me than Meguair's. Certainly not enough to justify the cost. I put NXT on my silver RAV4 and it looked fantastic.

I think they're both good products...I'm just a Meguiar's guy I guess.:D
