looking for someone who has these rotors and hats installed, and was trying to find out if you have ever replaced them when they were worn. I'm getting a terrible banging sound from my front end when going over any type of rough road, sounds as if the front end is falling apart. Callaway states that these rotors only allow 1mm of wear on them and after that they get loose. I can move them aprox 1/4 inch up and down on the hat, so I think that is where the noise is originating from

Side to side???

Hi there,
On the Brembos, do you mean that you are moving the calipers up and down on the rotor, by pulling up away from the center of the rotor??
Or rotationally, the way the rotor spins??
I have to admit that I have never heard of this, either way. Just make sure that you check your bracket, and the like to make sure that everything is tight, ok?? And let me know which way it is moving.
Best to you, c4c5

Well if I reach around the back of the rotors with my hand I can move them up and down on the hats. Callaway tells me there free floating rotors and should move a little, but not that much. I have tightended them up against the hat as much as I can, but there still loose. Again Callaway tells me this is normal . I think there worn, and that's what is making the noise. What other possibility could this banging be coming from. It's a really terrible sound when going over rough roads

Hi there,
Well, what I would do, is to drive the car, and see if the rattle goes away, when you trail the brakes slightly going over bumps.
This will confirm that your rotors are the cause of the issue.
Then, I would ask Callaway for a spec for the movement within the rotor to hat contact.
Let us know what you have, c4c5

Well I tried your suggestion and hit the brakes while going over the same rough stretch of road, and there was no noise. So I guess it's the rotors. Callaway tells me that it could also be the fasteners and they tend to wear out when hard braking alot. So I guess I'll try that first. They also said they want me to bring the car in to them to look at it, as they have never had anyone with my problem. But first it's going to be looked at by a vette mechanic in my area just to get another opinion. to make sure it's not some suspension part first. The rotors don't look worn at all. one silver lining in all of this at least I'll get a chance to get down to Callaway and see the C12 they got. thanks for your help

Anytime

Hey,
Not a problem here, thats what I do, and if you fancy a journey, stop by my way, as I am an hour south of Callaway, right on 95.
If not, let me know, and I can introduce you to the man who does all Callaways body work here.
He is a great man, who also has done a bunch of c12s, as he has one in right now under repair.
Best to you, c4c5
