Hey Lou,

I need to know the orientation of the harness connection between the distributor "pigtail" and the harness "extension" that goes to the 6AL.

At the connector, what is the colour sequence between the cables? Purple joins to _______ ? Green joins to _____ ?

I can't find where I stored the dang extension harness. It'll take a couple of weeks to get another one here, so I'm going to jump it instead.

I don't need the extension harness for length anyway. I just want to connect the distributor pigtail to the harness from the 6AL, but they're both male ends, and the colours don't match. Thus, my question about orientation.

P.S. This is weird. Here we have a C2 guy getting answers to his cross-generation question about a 2004 engine from a C1 guy in the C3 sub-section. Who'da thunk? I'm going to move it back to C1/C2 very soon....unless a C3 kinda guy answers too.

My mission, should I decide to accept it as I see it, is to complete the puzzle of the MSD 6AL Box to the MSD Billet Aluminum 8572 Tach Drive Distributor. As many hours as I have reading your project and looking at your pictures, I have no alternative other than to dive in head first tossing caution to the wind with no regard for my safety or future in the hopes that I "may" in the most remote sense, have had something to do with the building or completion of "The Legend.":eyerole
Now first let me say, I'm "slightly" color deficient, BUT, I feel that the answer to fill in the blanks in your post are as follows:
From the box to the distributor; Purple joins to Black & Orange
From the box to the distributor; Green joins to Black & Purple.
I have a story which I posted in here some time back about MSD, PM me and I'll condense it for you, but if you have any other questions that I can't answer, their tech support is THE BEST!!!

Quick question, I don't remember an extension harness, I "thought" my box plugged directly in to the distributor?

Thank you. I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't really have a problem after all.

Suffice it to say that I'm exhausted what with running my business and trying to finish this bloody project.
