I need to know where the starter wires hook up too (on the starter). There is a big black wire directly from the battery, it hooks up to the largest bolt on the starter selnoid. but there are 2 other little terminals sticking out of the selnoid on the starter, and there are 2 more wires. Do one of each of thoes wires go to the 2 small terminals, or does the red wire also hook up to the big black one? So in otherwords, is the terminal (closest to the motor) just open? no wires hooked to it?

Also if you can check the distributor for a wire. If you look at the ignition coil ontop of the cap, there is 3 plugs that go in the coil. One is a big connector with about 4 wires, the other is a white connector, with only one wire, and the last one should be a brown connector. OK... on the brown plug, if you disconnect it and pull in out, is there a real long (aprox 6") yellow wire connected to it with a big cylindrical capacitor looking thing on it. Or is it a real short wire with nothing on it? I think the cylindrical thing has a mount wraped around it, and it maybe bolted right behind the distributor thing.

thank you

The Starter Wires:
There are 3 wires. One Black, one Red, and one Purple.
There are only 2 terminals on the starter, one terminal is big and one is small.
The thick Black wire and the thin Red wire go together on the big terminal.
The remaning Purple wire goes onto the small terminal by itself. (Closest to the motor)
The Purple wire has a small "eyelet" end and the Red wire has a larger "eyelet" end. This prevents the possability of mixing the two.

The Distributor Wires:
There are 2 single wires and a 3 wire harness there.
The harness is keyed to go in only one way.
The Pink wire with the white connector goes to the terminal labeled "Bat" of the coil cap and leads to the Ignition switch.
The White wire with the Brown connector goes to the teminal labeled "Tach"
The White wire goes into the "Tach Filter" that should be bolted down behind the distributor.
The "Tach Filter" is cylidrical in shape and is about 2" long.
The White wire continues to the Tach input (Terminal C5) of the back of the Instrument Panel.

Hey thanx alot. So that cylindrical thing was a tach filter. hmmm. Thats what i needed to know thanx alot. and it's weird...on my starter there are 3 terminlas. one big one, which i have the black and red wire going to, and the purple wire I have on the terminal closest to the motor (i did that today and it works great) but yesterday I had it hooked up to another terminal, and it didn't work. Not sure why mine has 2 small terminals.

Well everything works good now. thank you for the help :D

Glad it worked out for you.:beer
