Are Tire Plugs Safe?

Plugs are OK in my Saturn with 172k on the clock, it's had many in it's lifetime. My Vette would get new rubber if it picked up a nail or other road debris without a second thought.

How many people ever drive a "Z" rated tire to it's limit?

I sure don't, I value my life too much and my wallet if I get caught!!!!

Ron ... :w

Even with an inside patch the cord can fail

Through the hole in the outside, moisture gets into the steel belts, rusts them and the bond between them and the rubber fails. It takes a long time, and happens regardless of driving in rain or not. It is water vapor in the air, too. Holes in tires are not good.
