ASR problems

You won't find that fuse because it doesn't exist. ;LOL

It looks like on a 92 a fusible link was used.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove driver side side gill panel.

Look behind and below the battery and you will see the battery jumper block. One of the cables
is from the positive terminal of the battery and supplies 12 volts to a bunch of fusible links.

Remove the stud nut securing the fusible links and clean the fusible link terminal lugs
then reassemble. Might want to coat the terminal lugs with die electric grease.

Water from the cowl dumps on to this area and can cause corrosion on the fusible link terminal
lugs.

Here's a video showing the fusible links.

You mention the ASR active light comes on, the gas pedal is pushed back and the pump makes a growling noise.
1) Does this happen every time the ASR switch is On when you first start the vehicle and the vehicle is in Park?
2) Has the ABS Active light and pump noise ever happened with the ignition On and the engine not running?

The manual mentions the Tech 1 can do a ASR test. What's interesting is the test is done with the ignition On and engine not running. You raise the rear wheels activate the test and verify the rear wheels can't rotate. (I'm assuming this test is done with the transmission in neutral).

The service manual never mentions if the EBCM ever does a ASR self test.

3) Did you ever reseat the EBTCM cable?
4) Did you mess with the throttle body or Throttle position sensor?

There's a guy in Saltsburg, Pa that has a used module for $85.00 on e-bay and a pump for $105.00
appears he's about 35 miles from you.

Here's the Bosch manual which is the same information in the GM Service manual.

1 yes it does happen each time. 2 no not without starting. 3 no never reseated the cable. 4 no have not bothered throttle body or TPS :ugh:ugh

Did you jump the battery when you got the car out of storage?
Only thing I can think of is the EBTCM module has a problem and that's what's causing
the ASR to activate when you start the car.

You say the pedal pushes back but what happens if you apply the brake does the ASR
Active light immediately go out?

This is a great deal. :chuckle

ecss Had the car on a battery maintainer all winter. If I press the brake the ASR active light goes out but if I hold the brake on and tap the gas the pump does not growl, the light stays out, but the pedal pushes back. Also noticed when I start the car the idle is rough then clears up when I turn the ASR off. Don't know if it's trying to cut the timing back at idle or what. Should have noticed that before but was concentrating more on the light and gas pedal.

The service manual does mention the EBTCM receives a buffered TPS voltage.
If the throttle body or TPS is replaced or removed you need to use a Tech 1 diagnostic program to update the EBTCM TPS voltage. I know you said you never messed with them but could be over the winter some how the correct voltage was lost? :ugh

I have a Tech 1 you can borrow so you can run the TP Sensor Learn procedure and also run the ASR test with the rear wheels off the ground.

Cost to ship USPS I'm guessing would be around $10.00. I can verify the best shipping price if you're interested. :w

Would be worth a try if You don't mind doing that. Let me know how we could set it up. Is that rear wheels up test in the manual?

I can copy the section of the service manual on how to run the tests using the Tech 1. (for a 93 which
should be the same for a 92). :ugh
The tool is pretty primitive in operation but if you keep pressing different buttons you'll figure it out. :L

I don't have ASR/ABS so I've never had to perform the tests. :happyanim:
The TPS learn is very simple.
For the ASR test you jack up the rear wheels select the ASR test and verify it's hard to rotate the
rear tires. :upthumbs

Maybe after running this test you can bleed the that ASR/ABS valve again and verify no bubbles are coming out of it.

ecss Sent you a pm but not sure I did it right.
