If all goes well, I will get the bad piston pressed off and the new one on Monday. (if they will do it while I wait).

I plan on buying new rod and main bearings, gaskets, and rings. I will hone out the cylinders, clean up the block, and slap it all together.

The long block should be done by Monday night. I have to hunt down some fuel rails and finish the LT1 intake conversion.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Goals?

Daily driver capable of mid to high 12's on pump gas and the street (11" wide ZR1) tires.

I plan on using this car and letting Nikki drive the Grand Am while she is pregnant..as getting behind the wheel and shifting gears on the C5 will be tough as she gets further along...and a baby seat will drop right in the Grand Am.

I don't care to run the C5 (six speed) to and from work every day.

You know a man has it made when he can say something like that!:L:L:L

got the short block together today.

It kicked my butt! They sold me the wrong rings, so I had to make a double trip down town.

I need to pick up a new timing chain, and get the heads bolted on. Stripping all the red paint took a ton of time, not to mention removing the head studs. I bought new normal head bolts to replace them with.

I hope to have the long block done by the end of the week.

Congrats

Congrats on the engine work and the BABE

hey Chris,

can you give us TPI guys a play by play on the LT1 conversion? i'm sorta leaning towards this myself as a full LT1 intake+fuel rails is around 400 bucks.

Thanks!

oh yeah congrads on the new baby! :)

Thanks guys,

Yes, I will give you the full details from my perspective as I go.

My local buddy just bought the $400 "turn key" kit for his 89. It should be here soon, so I will let you know what I think of that as well.
