Has anyone had any experience with the products from Astro Top? They offer a one-piece top that spans the whole area (~$359), or replacement 2-piece units (~$500)that act like the OEM tops. I was thinking about the one-piece unit, if for no other reason than it would eliminate one potential leak area. I just wanted to know if anyone here has dealt with them before and can attest to the quality of the product.

I have one on my 76 and love it; some don't like the attachments but I've had mine since 1999 and its still going strong.

I like the one piece the Blue tint matches the color of my car and the stars look good at night. Plus it is much more waterproof then my old two piece.

i have one on my 76, it works good, not too much wind noise, and it will store behind the seats, but very tight to get in.

I'm trying to sell my 78. I have been telling everyone that the cracked tops don't leak. For the last week it has been setting in the driveway with a cover on it. I took the cover off last night ad discovered that the passenger side did leak! The carpet was wet. I am drying it now. So Ineed to get a new top before I would feel right selling it.

Until I get a new top, I will put a plastic garbage bag over the top before the cover goes on to prevent further leaks. I just can't lie to a prospective buyer. Maybe that's why I'm not is sales.

Seems like you either love em or hate em. Even the ones at $875 (from Australia?) are out of my budget range right now.

Check this out as well..

Bought my black LOF galaxy glass tops from them last year.

Well, I bought the one-piece unit. I have had it for about a month now. I think I have used it enough to voice my opinion.

Pros:

It is cheaper than the alternative.
It is much lighter than the orignal T-Tops.
It was pretty easy to install.
For the most part it fit well.

Cons:

It squeeks a bit on the center bar. The plastic tabs fit in to the slots for the T-Tops and they squeek a bit. Maybe with some wear that will go away.

The edges don't conform (exactly) with the line of the pillar. They corners stick out a bit. I am hoping that, as the weatherstripping seats itself, I can tighten them up and pull them in a bit.
-
The tinting is much lighter than the tinting on my T-Tops. If the sun is high, it's almost like having the T-Tops off with no breeze. Could be a plus in some instances.

Bottom line. For me they work. I bought the storage bag but have not used it yet. I have not tried to store it behind the seats yet. No leaks. For a savings of $600, I can live with the shortcomings :-)

Look before you leap. See if you can find a car running one and check the installation. These tops have been around a long time now, but some folks do not like the fit or the quality of construction.
