ATF in Power Steering?

In a pinch you can but I would recommend power steering fluid. If you do use it the best thing would be to in the near future flush the system and use power steering fluid. Little diff additives etc in the steering fluid.
after I think about it I believe my service manual recommends power steering fluid.

I used to do it all the time.My beater 94 Z28 has a small P.S. leak and i put in ATF and it leaked out much faster than regular P.S. fluid.I wouldn't advise using ATF anymore.

Can you use ATF in the Power Steering?

no...forgot the reason but it was compelling...did ATF, 'back in the day' in everything, but progress (?) has changed things.

Good. I asked because my 4-Runner takes ATF. Must have different seals etc.
