TODAY MY 77 WITH A 350/180 H.P. L-48 CARB AUTO CHOKE WILL NOT SEEM TO KICK DOWN TO 600 RPM NORMAL IDLE AND I COULD ONLY GET IT TO SETTLE DOWN TO 1200. ANY ADVICE OR HELP OUT THERE. mR. mAGOO

Try spraying some carb cleaner in the area of the moving parts. They do get gummed up.
Just in case that doesn't do it; I had been fooling around with my advance weights in my dist. and had the same problem. Turned out that the mechanical advance weights were not returning to the idle position until the engine slowed below my idle speed.
