B&B Triflow 3" System

Just got my B&B installed on the LT4. THEY SOUND GREAT!!

I had posted a thread earlier, and heard a lot of complaining about the resonance. Who cares? These things sound and look awesome!

I can finally hear the V8's roar, no longer sounds like a 4 banger honda!

Did have one problem with install...all of the pipes were ovaled. Had to reshape to get them to fit.

Did the pipes line up correctly and symetrically with the tips level and in proper rotation? I just had a set installed and they are quite crooked (going back to the shop next week). These are the 3" pipes.

Mine are the same. I think the tips on my left muffler where mounted off. I made the shop get under there 3 different times until I thought it looked straight. Still looks a little off though.

They are awesome. They look great. Everytime I turn the key a smile comes across my face.

The stock LT4 exhaust just didn't have that throaty sound...but these do.

I just got my 3" B&B's set up correctly a couple of days ago. They finally look great and sound great. I called the B&B tech line (talked with Dennis) about the huge hassle it was to get the pipes on and set up. It took the shop a couple of extra hours with torch and elbow grease to get the proper alignment of the pipes between the Cats and the resonator. According to B&B they've had this problem with a few 1996 LT4's that were "different" than most. I'm not sure what that means exactly. Anyway, if you have some serious problems (over 2" of misalignment) on the front section of the assembly, call B&B and they will custom cut a section for you if you can tell them specifically what's wrong. I didn't do that since I didn't have time to mess with keeping my car in the shop the extra day for overnight delivery since its a daily driver.

As for resonance, there is some, but its much less than the older posts on the forum would indicate and definitely *not* the 107 db reported elsewhere. B&B claims that they've made design changes that eliminate a lot of the unwanted noise. Without being real scientific, it seems that there is resonance right around 2K rpm and just above 3.2K rpm. Other than that they're pretty quiet when cruising and get nicely throaty when WOT.

I had similar fit problems with my system, talked to Dennis at B&B and he gave me a similar story so apparently there are a number of "different" LT4's out there. He wasn't very helpful. The system sounds great and looks great but I've seen a number of them on various cars including my own and they all seem to vary somewhat giving me the impression that B&B doesn't do a very good job of quality control in the manufacturing process. When mine were first installed I didn't look at them carefully enough to notice the hanger was made too short on the left side causing the tips to rest up against the bumper; took the car to Texas Motor Speedway 3 days later and midway through my second 30 minute session was black flagged off the track because my car was "on fire", turned out the urethane bumper had been melted from the contact with the tips. B&B said it was an installation problem, the speed shop that did the install has been doing this kind of thing for years and had to modify/re-weld the hanger strap to provide clearance so it seems like a B&B screw-up to me. B&B wouldn't take responsibility, so anyone who buys their products should beware and check the installation/fit VERY carefully before paying that credit card bill!

Actually I think their system always requires some mods. Some just fix it and don't report it back to B&B.

Still best looking system out there!!!
