B-J Auction

At the end of the Speed Channel coverage, they announced approximately 100 MILLION in sales over the 6 days of the auction.

100 MIL. Absolutely amazing. Chuck

What killed me was the Corvette collector that "gave" Craig and his mother an '83 CE from him and the employees of Barrett-Jackson. It was their way of saying thank you to the Barrett-Jackson families for a wonderful 35 years.

Craig actually shed a tear or two, and who can blame him. They took in ~16 million profit over the course of last week, and someone offers an '83 Corvette as a gift. What a touching thought....what would he do without an '83 vette? Give me a break (and yes, I get the 35th anniversary vette/auction thing)!

It'll be interesting to monitor the prices of cars on websites such as Proteam and Roger's over the coming months. -John

Another mis-represented piece of crap

Just wait until the auction in Florida, where their newly acquired 88 will " have " to be sold, because his Mother ( bless her sole) has too much of a problem in trying to squeeze into the car, sadly they will " have " to let the car go.

Naturally, because it's now a family heirloom, the selling price of this " very special 88 Corvette, " will certainly be offered for at the very least, four times the normal selling price.

I wish the héll my Corvettes would appreciate as fast as theirs. Just goes to show how much more bull-shît can be generated from the auction crowd. All this makes me :puke .

geez, with those prices this year, I should sell my '65 at B-J. Afterall, it's obviously a VERY, VERY rare car being a stock factory smallblock. Based on the auction 98% of all corvettes are BB cars so my car must really be a rare and valuable item. ;LOL ;LOL

Sorry Barry, but your car is not a "re-creation." It's worth next to nothing at BJ. ;)

I was surprised when one of the announcers said "we've seen more numbers matching big block corvettes than I ever knew existed" at the auction this week!....I think it was right after the Numbers matching (beautiful) C3 w/427-435 sold for ~$114K. Right after this car, a Shelby "Eleanor" re-creation brought in more $$$. I don't understand it.

Here's my stupid question of the day...... 1983 Corvette????? As far as I remember, there ain't no such thing........

As I recall, the 83 was not ready for production at the end of 1982, so it's release was delayed and finally came out as a 1984 model.

You are correct! My mistake! Thank you....I ALWAYS get that '83 (actually, I think there really is one of them out there....there was a small number made, and all were supposed to be crushed) mixed up with something!

My stupid statement (the first one, anyway) of the day....should be '88.

Barry,
I have you beat in terms of rarity. A small block AND Powerglide. Which way is Arizona?

Well now.

Mine is a 1963 unmolested survivor car with original red paint including chips and scratches which have been lovingly applied over 43 years, sexy black interior, which is most desirable in these types of cars. It has matching numbers, original accumulated road dirt, and it is fully documented with born-on-date plate. It's being sold by the 3rd owner who claims to have had dinner with the previous 2 owners and one of them is said to have been some sort of celebrity. Oh, and we are told that Mr. Duntov actually sat in the drivers seat at one of the many car shows that this car had been entered in.

WOW! It should bring at least 2 million or more at BJ.

What a bargain!

:-)

Very high standard !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

First of all the vehicles were completely redone to a very high standard, in fact higher then you wildest dreams could imagine. These resto's could cost upwards of $100,000 plus and done by known names.

When these vehicles are finished they are in better shape now then when they came out of the factory by far.

These vehicles are not for driving but to be put on display either in a garage, auto showroom or Auto showcase. Some are also bought as an investment or just to have.

There happens to be a lot of serious money out there and a man would rather have a neat car in his garage then a master piece on his living room wall.

Keep in mind that the big money didn't go to survivors but resto's

If a vehicle does not have certification or awards or history, it's just a plane vehicle worth nothing to Barrett-Jackson.

In my opinion l would only buy a driver and not a garage queen.

What l didn't understand is the high prices for Camaro's, Chevell's and the like. They were only OK in their hayday as well as the Cuda's.

This market will collapse like the Ferarri market some years back.

They already said yesterday that the 35th Anniversary car will go to the Florida sale. The good thing about this is that when they sell something like this the proceeds usually go to a charity. In that case I don't mind the car selling for 3 or 4 times it's true value.

I wonder what it would cost to make a deal with some big name celebtity to buy your car for $1. and then sell it back to you for $1. While it was the celeb's car you would get all of the paperwork with his name on it and lots of pictures. With instant titles and sales transactions like a lot of states have now you could do this in about an hour some afternoon. Then you could show those docs when the bidding starts.

B-J says. "This car was formally owned by fill in the blank" and the bidding goes nuts. :L

Tom

???????????????????

If the vehicle was in a movie or show or the celebrity's own car that was a known fact then maybe.

Good Try.

Alan

I want to fly down to Florida for March 31st and April 1st just to say I was there and to see the daytime portion of the auction where there are more driver's on the block for much lower prices. Lets face it... less pristine vehicles would not be as good for the TV ratings and thats what it is all about.

you got me there Paul, and your's is a '67 to boot and as we all know, ALL '67's were BB cars. In fact, I think that except for the 127 L89's and the 412 L88's (all documented of course) all '67 Vettes came standard with the L71 427/435 motor. The only colors available that year were red or black although some people did repaint them some other colors later on.

;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

All I care about is that my estate makes money when the cars are sold. Looks like THAT won't be a problem.

The rest of this stuff is just beyond belief :crazy
