Okay, I have a problem. I just put new outside window weatherstripping on my 93 convertible. No problem with the installation, but now I have a buzzer that comes on with the dome lights. It is not very loud and not very strong (sounds like a bad connection) What have I done and how do I get rid of the annoying sound? Thanks

Just a guess but sounds like you may have not gotten the plastic door lock tab on the rod correctly. Are you sure it snapped in place over the rod?? otherwise it will buzz, I would think.

I am not sure I understand, but I tried the slide cover. It was apparently on tight. The buzzer continued even with that removed. The noise sounds like it is coming from behind the glove box.

Do you need to readjust the door ajar sensors?

Well, Just to be sure, the slide cover may be on tight but it still has to fit onto the rod. It is not unheard of to miss the rod line up on the plastic slide while you are try to get the door panel and all back together. It may not be this at all and it very well may be the door ajar adjustment that needs attention. Good luck.

Can you by any means post some illustrations? I took convertible's apart but cannot tell by your story what you aer aiming at.

More explanation. Before I replaced the weatherstrpping I did not have the buzzer. Comparing what I did to the previos link, I think I did everything right, but now I have the buzzer. It sounds like it is probably the "door ajar" buzzer. My question is what did I do to reactivate this buzzer and what do I do to deactivate it. The buzzer is on whenever the interior lights are on if the doors are closed or not. Most times it will go off after a period of time, but some times it just stays on until the lights are off and the door closed. This is compounded by the remote unlocking device continually unlocking the doors. Anyway....Thanks again for your ideas. Will keep trying

Did you ever get this fixed??? If so what was it??

buzzer

Do a search for 'door ajar switch' using the tab above. There are a lot of pics and explanations of how to adjust (screw the button in and out) or how to 'fudge' the button if it's stripped.
Good luck, let us know how you fix it.

Fixed the buzzer, next question!

OK.

OK. Finally got back to the buzzer.. I am assuming this car had a door ajar buzzer when it was new. We have ownede the car for about 3 years and I had never heard a buzzer. Replaced the ourside window weatherstrip and apparantly awakened the buzzer. Makes no sense. Fixed it by getting under the dash and pulling out the buzzer. Everything seems ok now. Now, I have another question. I would like to changhe the seats side to side (especially the backs) to even out the wear. These are the sport seats with the little air pump and the buttons on the bolster etc, so am wondering whgat to do. Can I, or how can I change the cushions on the back. Am not good with upholstery things. Help...

Thanks again for the suggestions on fixinjg the buzzer.

Changing seats

Haven't exchanged the backs yet but the lowers are a piece of cake and do interchange. Under the front center there's a wire that's about 3" wide. Push down very hard on the front center of the seat then push down and back on the wire to rotate it down and back. Then the lower part of the seat will lift right out. Reverse to secure the cushion.
Please post what you find regarding the backs, I'm interested too.
