Shane,

Glad you're okay. Here is my opinion: the world has changed these past few years into a much more violent place. I have no doubt in my mind what would've happened to you if you were by your car. Do yourself a favor, cut down on the drinking and get yourself a concealed weapon permit. That could save your life if the need arises.

The drinking wasn't the problem. I wasn't the one causing fights. I was watching the game and walking around to buy food an drinks and see old friends. It's the other team's people that were creating problems.
But I have considered getting a handgun cause I do agree the world is changing and almost necessatates one at times. I guess my alternative is that I am trained in Muay Thai and Submission wrestling so I can handle myself pretty well in a fight. It's just when it's 5 on 1 I would need a weapon.

Someone stated "those people" that is in error. They were not people! It is common place in America for law abiding citizens to be accosted, threatened, embarassed and assaulted whenever a diverse group is together. The larger the crowd the more hostile the situation becomes. As a 17 year veteran criminal investigator I have witnessed these situations, or rather the aftermaths thereof.
Whenever a group of people, united by race, creed or otherwise, is continually allowed to run amok without penalty these situation become an anarchy. As an American I am both shocked and humilated by these lawless acts. The police should be allowed to do their jobs without restraint, and the judges should start doing their jobs.
Don't ever touch my car or my family MF, I'll blow your head off.

Sorry, I wasn't implying that drinking was the problem. I was trying to say that guns and alcohol would be a bad mix! :L

Rule number one in a gun fight is to bring a gun. I'm trained in martial arts as well but Bruce Lee himself couldn't have defeated a gun.

sorry about your car man that sucks. Its too bad you dont know who did it so there car could have a nice surprise like a rag in the gas tank on fire...

Things do appear to be degrading exponentially. Obviously it's going to take more than we've already been subjected to to change the direction this society is headed :(

Not trying to threadjack...

Rule #2 is know how and when to use a gun (train with your carry weapon under different conditions). Having a CCW license is a tremendous responsibility. Also... carry a quality gun, not some pawn shop cheapie. This is one area where being a gator-arm can cost you dearly.
Myself, I routinely carry a Kahr MK40 (very easy to conceal), but occasionally I carry a Walther P99 (both in .40 S&W). Both are practical weapons, and very reliable.

Shane,

See the Which Handgun Should I Buy? thread in Off Topic! :L I've got a video of myself shooting at an IDPA match on there.

I followed the thread a little bit early on, but I haven't seen the video yet. I'll check it out tomorrow. Need sleepy time right now!

There are a couple times during the year that we don't go to the mall at night (as well as a couple other places in town) because of that other team.

Man, that really sucks. It sucks because a few bad apples ruin it for everyone else. I think that's one of the reasons why malls are on the decline, other than the fact that people want to go straight to the store instead of through a mall, people also don't like the punks loitering in malls.

That's why I stay away from malls. For some reason, I seem to get a lot of "silent challenges." :eyerole My buddy on the other hand, the one who drives the Escort, doesn't get that. I guess it helps when you're a big, muscular guy. The punks like to pick on people who they think they can overpower. :L
