Well the good news is what was wrong with my ZR-1 Corey Henderson fixed. The bad news is while on the dyno my catylist blew out the ass end of the drivers side exhaust. Chunks of honey comb material everywhere. Corey said it was pretty awsome actually. You know, It seems to to get better and better for me. He said now would be a good time to put Jeal headers on and a catback exhaust. Yea sure I think 5 minutes couch fishing and I can come up with $4200.00 in change for that. Good grief. So to say the least I'm really BUMBED out. Corey has OEM 90 ZR-1 exhaust manifolds he will sell me for $500.00 for the pair. But installing them I'm looking at about 14 hours labor.

Now would be a great time to fix it yourself. I cant imagine affording a ZR1 without doing almost everything myself. I put on new Stainless Works headers, had them Swain Tech. coated, and put on a new Flowmaster 11 cat back exhaust with x-pipe all for less than $2,000.00

did corey have headers in stk .? how long does it take to get headers from stainless works /? i need a set for the new toy .

I ordered a set jet-hot coated from SW mid Feb. should be in any day. It takes an extra week or so if you have them coated.

Your right about that. Us bottom feeders have had to learn to do it ourselves. I have no problem doing it myself but I could sure use a break this year. I rebuilt the front end of a 1987 crown victoria I only paid $600.00 for. All new bushings upper and lower ball joints. New pitman arm. Installed a new water pump and alternator. But now it drives like your gliding on air. But boy my nieghborhood association sure doesn't like me very much. But this ZR-1 is something else. It's like nothing else I've ever had. This thing is Bad Bad Bad to the bone and you all know what I'm talking about. You can call me crazy. I do like to test the limits. But I've had this car up to 175mph and it didn't even break a sweat. And I'm sure if I kepted my foot in it just a little longer it probably would have made it to 180mph. Very impressive. Especially after I replaced one bad secondary actuater and the secondary vacum solenoid. (No more secondary vacume leak here) It was so fast MAKE YOU WANT TO SLAP YOUR MOMMA. HaHa.

so does corey have the headers in stk?if youd like i could sell you both of my original exhaust manifolds of my 90 that have the cats attached for 300. pm me if you are interested .

$300.00 is a steal. Those are not easy to come by. But I've already paid corey for them. They also have the cats on them. In fact I,m hauling the trailer down there to pick the car up and the manifolds this weekend. But I really do appreciate the offer. And I will ask him if he has headers in stock while I'm there. Thanx Brad. Once I get the manifolds reinstalled and hooked back up to the Borla exhaust system I will be ready to rock and roll.

Hey Brad, I see you live in mammoth lakes California. Been there done that. It's beautifull there. Lake Amador, Lake Don Pedro, Lake Tahoe. I was born and raised in San Jose California. I miss the scenery. Don't miss the high cost of living though. Also there is a bigger pic of the Z in (Post a pic of your ZR-1) section. It's on the second page. It is the only red 90 with the targa top off. When I get the Mustang done maybe I will post a pic of them both side by side. They may not be in the same league as each other. But one thing they both have in common is that they were both %100 made in America. Now how many people can say that about there cars.

it really is a small world. i grew up at almeden country club. dad was hand to hand di out of ord so we went from monterey the san jose . grand father was mayor of santa cruz .he tried to get the big dipper torn down in the late forties . you know where the arcade stuff and mini golf stuff is now used tpo be a salt water pool . when i was 12 we dived off the understructure of the roof into the pool biggest cannnon ball spashes you ever saw. i think the ladders are still on a couple of the side walls .. i managed a cocos on mary in sunnyvale after the service . but hated the big city i still remember san tomas expressway traffic . that was a nightmare . i am kinda knew to this computor stuff to be able to post that type of thing . i am very thankfull for these forums. they have kept my sanity lately as 21/2 weeks ago lost my wife and unborn twins to an acute case of toximia. i had just bought her dream car a artic white 475 super natural callaway zr1 with 40 k miles . to go with my high miles but nice fast zr1 that corey did a bunch of work on . its putting down 423.2rwhp and 388.2 tq. thanks to coreys porting of the inj housings and plenum as well as his tuning on the dyno . its nuts how things happen but i wouldnt give up one day that i got to share with that wonderfull lady . so full of life i know she would want me to keep what we dreamed about alive .please tell corey that i am starting to do better and will get ahold of him in a week or so . he is so busy with work and family ,i hate bothering him with my junk . anyhoo corey is a very fair and good guy . his honesty is above reproach . enjoy your wonderfull car . its addicting owning one of these zr1s. i get down right nasty if i dont get to drive her at least 3 time a week .enjoy brad

Brad I'm really sorry about your loss. Thats the ultimate loss, your family. I just turned 38 been married for 10 years with two beautiful daughters 7 and 9 years old. If something ever happend to them I would probably just crawl in a hole and die. God forbid. As far as Santa Cruze goes, I still wonder if those homes that are located just south of the board walk have finally fallen off the cliff into the ocean yet. It looks like one more earthquake would have done the trick.

gosh that was so long ago . are you talking north or south . i seem to remember motels by railroad tracks kinda south west right off the beach.my great grandmother had a little bake shop in the front of her house i believe on elm street i know 3 blocks west was a foster freeze. if we were real good we got 10cents for an ice cream wow memories :)ps thanx for the kind words . the only way i can look at it is i was so lucky to have had the time i did with her .plus she wrote me a beautifull letter from what our nurse said about an hr before she passed . as it said no groveling allowed . but it is lonely in this big new house we just built .

Mybe it was in Capitola, which is south of Santa Cruze. I would love to take the vette on the drive from San Francisco starting at the Golden Gate bridge 19th ave and drive south along Highway 1 along the coast. Pescadero state beach, Bonnie dunes, Santa Cruze and on to Montery then end the trip in Carmel. To have dinner at Clint Eastwoods Resturant. That is one of the most beautiful drives in the united states. Especially all those hair pin turns along the coastal cliffs. Don't get me wrong I like Texas! But sorry, it just doesn't compare to California as far as scenery goes.

Hey Brad I just got back from Corey's and I told him you said Hi. And his face went from a smile to a very sad look and he said man I've got to call brad. I could tell he was shook up about what happend to you. So you will probably be hearing from him soon. My daughters were acting up so bad in his shop. First after the two hour drive they had to go to the bathroom so we went into the liquor store next door to use the bathroom and one of my girls decided to bump and grind to the music that was playing and knocked a $64.95 bottle of whiskey off the shelf that shattered into a million pieces I had to pay for. And then restling around on the floor of Corey's shop. Bouncing off Z06's and other Zr1's. Finally I growled at them and told them to go sit in the truck. They knew I was ****ed then. They acted like angels after that. But I'm back home now with the car and the manifolds. Now I've just got to take the old ones off and put the new ones on.
