A couple of days ago my Idiot light came on. So i got out my code scanner and it shows that I have either a bad EGR or BARO. Code # 32
Anyone know where there barometric sensor is? Somewhere near the intake manifold i would amagine. My guess is that it's probly not the EGR. My car has been running at about 235 deg lately. I have a bad pressure switch in the OD. So I have no OD at all. Therfore my engine temp has been real high.
What do you think, BARO or EGR?

I can't find a part # for a Baro sens for an '86. Only the 92-95 had that sensor. #48...... The barometric pressure is taken from inside your EGR. So bottom line, it must be your EGR valve. It might help to take it off and give it a thuro clean job, lines and all......hope this helps a little.....

hmm

I'll give that a shot. Din't know that the BARO and EGR were both part of the same unit. thank you

That depends on what type EGR valve you have. There are 5 different EGR valves on corvettes. The one pictured is the Positive Backpressure Type. Where it says, "air flow in" is barometric pressure. If this is like yours, the small hole may be blocked.

Corvette66,

On systems with a MAP sensor, barometric pressure is measured via the MAP sensor at key on time, immediately prior to engine startup. Manifold pressure is measured via the MAP after engine start.

On systems sans MAP sensor, barometric pressure and manifold pressure is inferred in the ECM via software and MAF input since there is nothing to measure it directly.

Your code 32 would therefore have to indicate EGR system fault not BARO.

Here is a 'flow chart' that will help you find either the wiring, EGR Temp Switch or the valve itself.
