My battery box has a couple three holes in it. Is it best to try to repair with fiberglass or get a used battery box and cut it off and cut the in car one off and match them up with fiberglass? This is a '72 and there are two tubes up into the battery box. If I put a "sealed" battery in there I don't need those tubes do I?

Personally I'd repair the holes. If you cut the box and patch another one on, it will be a lot more visible.

No. The original holes and tubes were to vent the original battery. If you intend to have the car judged, you need the holes and the tubes. If you're not concerned with juding, there are some '72 owners who will probably want your tubes.
