battery drain 1960

Just thought someone might have an answer to my problem. My amp gauge indicates the charging system is ok, but at the end of the day, the battery loss is such a restart is iffy! The generator hasn't been checked but the brushes appear ok. I haven't found anything grounded thats not suppose too. Thanks: 60vett@earthlink.net:confused
 
With the engine running at around 1500 rpm (so the generator will charge), you should show 13.5-14.5 volts across the battery terminals, and a fully-charged battery (engine off) should show 12.2-12.6 volts across the terminals. If your ammeter is indicating a normal charge rate and you see correct charging voltage across the battery and the battery still goes flat, it's probably battery time.
